The compelling characters combined with Guadagnino's talent in making a scene feel familiar to the audience will give you the sense that you are truly in Italy. You'll wake up the next morning wondering what's next for the Perlman family. The somewhat strange pacing in the first half is more than made up for when the slow-moving story comes to a satisfying conclusion.
